Conductor and Educator:

Step into the world of Jerdil L. Castillo, a realm where music blends with emotion, and music creates an unforgettable memory. Jerdil is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Wind Conducting, studying under Dr. Dennis Llinás. Jerdil is the former music teacher at Sierra Vista Middle School in Sunnyside, Washington. Before working for the Sunnyside School District, he worked for the Puyallup School District in Puyallup, Washington.

 

Jerdil received his Bachelor of Arts in Music from Saint Martin’s University in Olympia, Washington. Before attending Saint Martin’s University Jerdil was a student at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. Jerdil’s music education professors include Dr. Linda Miller and Dr. Ron Gerhardstein. Jerdil studied conducting with Dr. Joseph Scott, UO class of 2010, Dr. Edwin Powell, and Dr. Ron Gerhardstein from Pacific Lutheran University.

 

In 2023 Jerdil was awarded the Collage Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) Mike Moss Conducting Study Grant. Jerdil is a member of the National Association for Music Education (NAFME), the Washington Music Educators Association (WMEA), and the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA). Jerdil is also a U.S. Army veteran who was honorably discharged from Active Duty in 2017.
